How to Create New User Attributes in CoffeePals

User attributes in CoffeePals allow you to capture key information about your users—like their start date, department, skills, or location. These attributes are critical for organizing users and powering features like rule-based audiences, which automatically group users based on shared characteristics.

🧩 Types of Attribute Fields

When creating a new attribute, you can choose from the following field types:

- Date – e.g., Start date, Hire date
- Single Select – Choose one option from a defined list (e.g., Department, Office Location)
- Multi-Select – Choose multiple options (e.g., Skills, Languages spoken)
- Number – e.g., Years of experience, Team size
- Yes/No (Boolean) – e.g., Is manager, Remote worker
- Text Input – Freeform text (e.g., Job title, Favorite drink)

🚀 Steps to Create a New User Attribute

Navigate to the Attributes Page
From the left-side menu, click Users → Attributes.

Click “Create Attribute”
In the top right corner of the attributes table, click the “Create Attribute” button.

Select the Attribute Type
Choose the appropriate field type based on the data you want to collect (see types listed above).

Name the Attribute
Give your attribute a clear, descriptive name (e.g., Start Date, Department, Skills).

Add Options (If Applicable)
If you're using Single Select or Multi-Select, enter the list of available options for users to choose from.

Once the attribute options are created, they cannot be changed. You can delete and add new attribute options.

Save the Attribute
Click Save to add the new attribute to your organization.

🎯 Using Attributes in Rule-Based Audiences

Once you've created attributes, you can use them to build rule-based audiences that automatically include users who meet specific criteria.

For example:
- Create a “New Hires” audience based on Start Date is within the last 3 months
- Create a “Sales & HR Team” audience based on Department is Sales or HR
