How to Set Up CoffeePals in Slack
CoffeePals makes it easy to foster meaningful connections within your organization by matching team members for casual coffee chats. Follow the steps below to set up CoffeePals in Slack.
Step 1: Install CoffeePals in Your Slack Workspace
Go to the CoffeePals Slack App Page:
Visit the CoffeePals Slack App and click Allow.
Grant Permissions:
Follow the prompts to allow CoffeePals to integrate with your Slack workspace. This will allow CoffeePals to access the necessary channels and users.
Step 2: Configure the CoffeePals App
Set up your audience:
Add the CoffeePals app to either a new or an existing Slack channel. This channel will serve as the group of people participating in the program. Many customers prefer creating a new channel so that participants can easily opt into CoffeePals by simply joining the channel. For more details on how to do this, check out How to create a Slack audience article.
Set Up Your Program:
Once you've added an audience, navigate to the Apps section in Slack and select CoffeePals.
Click the Home tab in the CoffeePals app.
Click on Create a Program.
Log into CoffeePals using your Slack account.
Navigate to the Programs page.
Click the Create New Program button in the top-right corner of the page.
Choose a template that best fits your team's needs.
Give your program a name and select the audience (the Slack channel you added in Step 1) that will participate.
Follow the on-screen steps to complete the program setup.
Once your setup is complete, click Initiate Program. For matching-based programs, CoffeePals will begin matching participants on the first scheduled match day, which by default is the following Tuesday. Matches will be created based on the settings you’ve configured.
Note: You can stop at any point in program creation and your progress will be saved as a draft.
Customize Settings:
Adjust additional preferences, such as:
Allowing participants to opt in before each match cycle
Enabling survey questions after meetings.
Modifying the onboarding messages.
Step 3: Announce CoffeePals to Your Team
Send an Introduction Message:
Use the pre-written announcement template or craft your own message to let your team know about the program.
Invite Participants:
Share the link to the Slack channel to encourage team members to opt in directly through Slack.
Step 4: Monitor your progress
Monitor Progress:
View analytics and participation data in the CoffeePals dashboard to track engagement and improve the program over time.
